Directory Submissions

Directories, like The Open Directory, are different from search engines, because they are edited by humans, not crawled by crawlers/spiders. Therefore, page optimization strategies do not work with the directories. Instead, we offer a consulting service in which we work with you to make changes to your existing website which will cause it to achieve a better ranking in the directories. Directory submissions are included as a standard feature in our search engine placement packages. However, if you only want directory submissions, we offer that as a standalone service as well.

The directories that we currently support include The Open Directory Project. We charge a one-time consulting fee of $3,999 to work with you in preparing your site for submission to this directory. There are no maintenance fees for directories, because unlike search engines, directory listings tend to be very static.

If your site is already listed, that does not reduce the consulting fee. You are paying for our time to evaluate your site and recommend the necessary changes. Generally speaking, the strategy for all directories is the same, so it makes no difference to us, in terms of the amount of time involved, whether we're submitting to one directory or more than one. In some cases, if you have an existing listing in a particular directory, we may be able to secure additional listings for your site in that directory.
